Málaga Acoge is a non-profit organization that works in the field of immigration. It was born in 1990 and, together with nine other associations from the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and Melilla, they form the Andalusia Acoge Federation. Its base is made up of people who work voluntarily so that migrants living in the country have full rights and duties as citizens. In addition, more than forty professionals are part of it in the different work areas of the entity.
Next Friday, September 10, they will meet in Madrid in front of the Ministry of the Interior to demand the immediate reform of the Immigration Regulations that avoids the situation of exclusion to which young people from the system of protection of minors are forced to reach when they are 18 years old.
"Disregarding at these ages those who were under the tutelage of the administration yesterday is at best a State error ", considers the Vice President Eva del Pino, who recalls that the same Government recognizes that the lack of documentation leads young people to a situation of administrative irregularity. "Minister Escrivá himself declared in January that a streamlining of the documentation system is necessary to prevent these kids from losing their residence permit, a situation that is repeated frequently," he warns.
Málaga Acoge, and different associations have been working for more than a year to provide alternatives. "A lot of work has been done on a social consensus for this modification, which at the last minute is coming to a halt, " laments Del Pino. For this reason, many national organizations, volunteers, supporters and young people who have been in the system of protection of minors want to make an appeal to take into account the situation of vulnerability of these kids, of which the State is aware.
